My sister and her son live about four and a half hours from me. Even though she is relatively close, it seems quite difficult to go and see her. My husband and I decided since the weather was great and since my sister and her son didn't have any plans that it would be a perfect time to get away!
When we were two hours away, we received a call that my nephew's uncle had passed away very unexpectedly. The uncle was 36-years-old. So, what was supposed to be a fun trip turned into a much needed trip for support for my sister and her son. We were able to go out to eat with Susan, her ex-husband, and their son and talk about the life of Bert and to reminiscence about life in general. I was looking forward to seeing my ex-brother-in-law because we don't get to spend much time together since the divorce.
When I saw Roland, I gave him the biggest hug and let him know how very sorry I was that his younger brother had passed. I could see the extreme sadness in his eyes, but he did not want to talk about it; it was still too soon.
My prayers are with my nephew, his father, and the family as they mourn the life of someone gone too soon.
